A country you would like to visit

I'd love to be able to know as many places as I can in my life, so it's hard for me to think of just one now, especially considering the pandemic. For example, I’m very excited to know Peru and Bolivia, because I’m very attracted to their cultures and places, but at the same time meet Cuba, Norway, India and Vietnam call me. Everywhere I would like to know the different realities that converge, understand their beliefs and walk their streets astonishing me with their architecture, street art and animals that I meet on the way. As for whether I would stay to live, study or work in any of those places, I don't know, I’m a person who lives minute by minute without questioning the future, more than anything for the uncertainty of what life can be. However, I hope that my career allows me to be able to take trips to know other cultures and to be able to know and live based on it.

My relation with English

 

I consider my relationship with English quite unusual, I understand it quite well, because since I was a child I have been interested in languages. However, I focused this interest on English because it is the "universal language" and in this way I began to listen to music, watch movies and interviews, read novels and nerd books and even change my phone to English. Ironically I feel that speak English it is not going very well for me, in my head or when I am alone it sounds excellent, like a native, but when I speak it in public I die lol

Sixth Blog: An evaluation of your blogging experience

I think that the overall blogging experience was very didactic, recreational and relaxed, it does not generate the same stress as other evaluations and I appreciate that very much. I also feel that my writing skills have improved, I feel more comfortable doing it.

In the future I would like you to be encouraged to use this modality in other English courses because it is more relaxed and you learn in a fun way. In addition, I would like to include instances of debates or discussions around current news or topics, which, in addition to enriching our English, will allow us to know other points of view.

Likewise, I don't know how possible it is, but I would like to be able to speak sign language in English, to break the language barrier with deaf people. I think it would be extremely inclusive to do.

Personally, I would like to write about feminism, gender issues, antispecies, veganism and / or vegetarianism. In order to learn and teach others.

Fifth Blog: A subject you have enjoyed studying this year

In the first semester we had the subject of Workshop 1: The work of the anthropologist. In this class, Flora Vilches and Jorge Razeto taught us different spaces and investigations in which the social anthropologist, physical anthropologist and archaeologist develop and can carry out. 

During the course of the subject we made reports with the topics addressed during the class, within these, were the materialities, gender, sexual dissidence, indigenous problems, environment, among others. In this way the teachers introduce us to an anthropologist or archaeologist who developed within some of this areas and they themselves explained to us how they carried out their work.

For me the subject was incredible because I came to the career with the idea that I was not going to have a job in the future. However, as the course progressed, I realized that I could work in too many spaces, I could help and learn from many people and realities.

I would have loved to be able to take this course in person, no through a computer. However, I loved everything we learned in it.

Fourth Blog: A photograph you like

The photograph I chose was taken by me in the summer of 2018. I took it when we were crossing by barge in the Austral Zone, the windows were huge and I sat there looking at the ocean, it was wonderful.

The truth is that I feel a very strange connection with the sea, I love it and it intrigues me. I love being on the beach, in silence, with my feet on the water, listening to the sound of the waves. It calms me down too much, I feel a lot of peace. That's why I like the photo, it makes me feel incredibly small in the vastness of the beautiful ocean and that amazes me. 

It also brings back memories of that beautiful trip that I shared with my family.

Third Blog: A person in your field that you admire

Sonia Montecino is a chilean writer and anthropologist. Her work is characterized by the intersection of literature and anthropology. She is one of the founders of the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies at the University of Chile and a National Prize for Humanities and Sciences. Her works haunt ethnic studies and gender perspectives from a feminist perspective. Among these are "Mothers and Huachos", "Chilean Women: Fragments of a story" and "Myths of Chile: Encyclopedia of beings, appearances and charms".

I think her work is extremely interesting and wonderful. She has been very inspiring when it comes to conducting essays around anthropological themes. I also find gender perspective work very important, because it deconstruct the machismo that has always been instilled in us. As for ethnic studies, I consider that these play a role in knowing another version of the colonizing history because it omits too much information about our roots. I've learned too much from her and I really love her job.

Second Blog: My favourite piece of technology

My parents gave it to me three years ago because they noticed my interest, at that time we were not having a good time so it became a very valuable gift.

Even though I don't use it that often, but it's the first thing I take when I have to travel.

I really love it because images are very sharp, it has a part that shoots a light when I press a button, and it has a zoom that goes very far. Also I like the idea of ​​containing memories of places, people, animals in images. 

I always wanted to have it, so my life without it would be a bit boring, because with it I discovered another way of seeing what surrounds me and it has even given me the opportunity to show others what I see.
